This article documents student efforts to create a black student organization on campus.

Description

Black student community charters its own black student caucus in 1967. The purpose of the organization is provide a space for black students to create their own identity and develop into the students they wish to be. Considering that the organization was specifically for black students, black student leaders would have to grapple with the terms for its membership.
