Title

“New Training Aims to Sensitize Faculty”

Description

Because minority faculty, staff, and students felt underrepresented and misunderstood in the Oxy community, a workshop was organized for faculty to sensitize them in “issues of race, gender, ethnicity, social class, and different physical abilities”. The Western Association of Schools and Colleges had recently reported that there were obvious discrepancies between minority groups and the mainstream Oxy population. According to the article, approximately 150 members of faculty attended these workshops to improve Oxy morale and create a more cohesive community.
