In this article the editor, Laurie, talks about Oxy's failed attempt at diversity. Issues discussed in this article include black students being a learning experience for white students, black students feeling uncomfortable in social settings because white students call them racial slurs or ostracize them, the asministration failing to elect one person to deal with these issues, and the lack of a minority affairs office. The percentage of black people going to Oxy decreased from 6.1 to 2.8 percent in 12 years. The black retention percentage is reported to be 69%.
