"Students seek diversity through campus awareness"-October 9, 1987, page 11, The Occidental
Description
The SCCD (Student Committee for Cultural Diversity) is concerned with the lack of black and latino professors on campus and within the administration. There are many "non Western" courses that are taught by white professors and the SCCD feels this is problematic. This article stresses the need to bring awareness to this issue and introduce a more diverse faculty, especially in an effort to embrace a more diverse curriculum.

Analysis/Reflection
This article is indicative of the push made by students to secure a more diverse faculty. Issues of multiculturalism and diversity in the curriculum underpin this article as well as the intentions of the Student Committee for Cultural Diversity. Not to mention, the fact that this article notes the existence of the SCCD makes it a useful source in mapping out various student organizations, groups, and conversations emerging throughout the decade.
