Analysis/Reflection
The mention of the need to recruit more minority students is a common theme throughout the 1980's. In this faculty meeting, the director of Admissions stresses this need, as well as mentioning "Minority Recruitment Day". Such an occasion emphasizes the push in Admissions that existed at the time to attract minority students to Oxy, an impulse that has been seen in multiple eras in Oxy's history. This source shows the existing response in the early 1980's in Admissions to the question of why more minority students were not applying to Oxy.
