Describes a plan to help minority students adjust to life at Oxy more seamlessly. Suggests assigning minority students personal advisors who would monitor them weekly to analyze their study habits and review their work. Makes a note that many minority students have expressed a difficulty in adjusting to life at Oxy. Suggests a program where advanced peers could help as counselors to incoming minority students finding it difficult to transition to their life at Oxy. Mentions the bridge program for minority students. Mentions possibility of allowing high achieving minority students from local high schools to attend classes at Oxy for credit (informally). Suggests that Oxy make a commitment to enhance the visibility of courses that highlight multi-clturalism, the experience of minority groups in the US, and on "non-Western cultures". Urges the Library to expand its holdings to include works that reflect Oxy's commitment and course offerings related to multi-culturalism. Recommends an evaluation of the curriculum of courses at Oxy, including required texts, to ensure that the courses are incorporating fair amounts of multicultural authors, texts, and concepts.
