The Oxy Mission
This exhibit is devoted to the intstitutionalization of multiculturalism at Oxy within the administration, course work, and campus resources. These articles demonstrate the application of and the commitment to the Oxy Mission Statement during the 1990's. Occidental College was receiving public attention for its diversity during this time period, and it was apparent by statistics as well: the admission of minority students increased to 43% by 1993, a new Multicultural Hall and Women's Center were established, and M.S.I was created, amongst other on-campus programs and centers. There is also an excerpt from an interview with Angel Cervantes, a former Oxy student who discusses his understanding of the observable difference between diversity and multiculturalism during the beginning of the decade.
